Indications
Prevention and treatment of gumboro in poultry.
Symptoms
Depression at the beginning of the disease, reduced food intake, increased drinking water, some pecking at the anus, passing white watery loose feces, severe cases of dehydration, lying on the ground, extreme weakness, and finally death. Chicks that tolerate anemia become thin and grow slowly. Necropsy showed that characteristic lesions occurred in the bursa of Fabricius. The bursa was yellow, gelatin-like, edematous, hard, and the mucosa was covered with cream-colored fibrinous exudate. Sometimes the bursa mucosa is severely inflamed, bleeding, necrotic, and atrophic. In addition, chickens that died of illness showed dehydration, often had bleeding in their leg and chest muscles, and were dark red in color. The kidneys are swollen and the renal tubules and ureters are filled with white urate. Bleeding of the spleen and mucosa at the junction of glandular stomach and gizzard.
